Online Communication

This is my 3rd Thing! Do you like communicating? Well, there are many ways of doing that these days. I ask my friends about calling to talking to people and they look at me like, "What's that! You mean verbally speaking to someone".

Of course we have many devices and technology, but what about that, good ole fashion email?
Email has been around longer than the Internet—early inceptions date to the late 1960s using mainframe computers. Now, almost everyone has at least one email address. With more than 1.5 billion email users sending 183 million email messages a day, it would seem email has a prominent role in online communication and collaboration, in spite of so many of these new tools. Everyone needs to understand and use email. A few of the more popular email services are Gmail, Yahoo mail, and Hotmail. So, if you don't have an email, find one and join, It's free!

RSS Account and Add Feeds

Hi there, here's my 2nd Thing- This Thing is about RSS which stands for "Really Simple Syndication". This application is a file format for delivering frequently updated information over the web. After reading about RSS, I understand how much it has changed the way, media, news, and content creators are now sharing information.
Feel free to add some of your fellow bloggers to your Bloglines or Google Reader Account. It will help you stay updated on what they are saying about the Things, their comments and discoveries. You can also add additional feeds for websites, news sites, podcasts and much more. So I recommend setting up an aggregator account, it's free. Just follow the directions at these sites. Creating an account in Blogger

My 1st Thing was choosing an online hosting service, such as Word Press, Type Pad or BloggerI recommend Blogger, this is a great application for college students that are learning how to build blog sites. Set up a Google account if you don't have one. Any email address will work to set up an account. Once you have accomplished that step, new bloggers can go to the Blogger Help button at the top right corner of the page. This is where you will find   detailed instructions about how to get started. Others can go to the dashboard and begin building your site. Select the Design tab and choose the Template Designer to begin creating your page. By selecting the Settings tab, you can choose a Blog Title and URL for your blog site, along with many other blog tools. Take your time and enjoy building your site as much as I am. This is my first attempt and feel great about what I have done so far. Make your to take note of your sets and keep them in a safe place.
